The Council of the Isles of Scilly Children’s Services, AONB and ARTiculate are delivering another spectacular 'Island Light Festival'. The theme for this year’s event is a celebration of Scilly’s seabirds, with a particular focus on the Project.

This is a week-long event, and today the 'hand lantern workshop' was held on St Mary’s, whereby participants made hand-held seabird lanterns. Gannets, terns and puffins were all created out of willow and tissue paper. The puffin lanterns will have a candle inside, whilst the larger tern lanterns will be decorated in fairy lights. We can’t wait to see the lantern procession 7pm this Saturday on St Mary’s. In the meantime the workshops will head to St Agnes later this week. Thanks to the all the team for picking such a wonderful theme - what better way than to light up the streets than by celebrating seabirds!
